White Pelican

O so soft, and, O so quiet
Are you upon the limpid water--
Gliding, drawn by some gossamer underwater force,
Plying the water, leaving no wake.

Very much like grace and blessing,
Or free gift bestowed--
You move slowly, grace and blessing,
Parading for your Creator, leaving no wake.

What other noons have you graced and blessed?
What other lakes your white majesty plied?
And what awaits your watery and complex life
Once you this quiet and blessed lake depart?
